Spanglish Voces is a platform for emerging creative artists of underserved communities. Since
its inception, Spanglish Voces mission has been to use all artistic mediums to seek, learn, and
affirm our distinct histories. We are aspiring to build a pipeline of creatives of color from within
the New York City Public High schools through the arts.
Our residency program would allow us to work in tandem with all English courses to boost
creativity and improve creative writing through the lens of our youth of color. The Spanglish
Voces team will serve as an advisory and support team for all projects. Our stories, original
plays, films, and work by other playwrights will be showcased at the participating schools and
various locations within the communities we are working with. The assistance of the advisory
group is crucial in the execution of these productions. During our monthly meetings, we will
discuss the progress of all programs, plan workshops and readings, grant and funding, and
potential locations for our showcases and exhibits.
The Spanglish Voces team will help with encouraging parental engagement and parent-teacher
association participation, outreach in the community for the involvement, and volunteering in our
showcases. We will collect data from all participants and audiences to study the impact our
services have on the communities we are serving and explore new creative paths that might help
them better.
